If you look and listen to your house, it will talk to you. Are you listening?
This is the top of an exterior door the exits below a deck. The stains that you see are evidence of moisture that have come from in between the brick mold trim and the top of the jamb. This is telling us moisture is getting in behind the deck ledger and running all the way down and out at the door. There is a potential here for hidden damage. Further inspection is needed up on the top of the deck where the flashing is installed. We see from underneath there is flashing over the deck ledger so odds are the top edge was not installed under the building paper. Vinyl siding is very leaky. Water will get behind it. So when the water runs down behind the siding it passes behind the deck flashing if not installed properly.
